2028 Nominee Odds Put Ossoff First Despite His Denial

  • Jon Ossoff leads the 2028 Democratic nomination odds at +375, ahead of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at +425 and Gavin Newsom at +500.
  • Ossoff is also the 2028 presidential favorite at +425, ahead of JD Vance and Ocasio-Cortez, who are both +550.
  • On the Republican side, JD Vance is +110 to be nominated, Marco Rubio is +350 and nobody else is shorter than +1600.
  • Ossoff won re-election Tuesday and has said he has “zero interest” in a presidential run.

ATLANTA – Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff leads the 2028 presidential nominee odds for Democrats at +375 and the overall 2028 presidential odds at +425, hours after the Associated Press called his re-election Tuesday night. He has pledged to serve a full six-year term and says he has “zero interest” in running for president.

Ossoff Leads A Three-Way Democratic Field

Ossoff is +375 for the Democratic nomination. Ocasio-Cortez is +425 and Newsom is +500, so three names sit within 125 points of one another. The next-shortest contender, Kamala Harris, is +1200, which prices the nomination as a three-person race.

Newsom is the name that has slipped. He was the +375 favorite on the Democratic board in mid-September, when Ocasio-Cortez moved to the top of the 2028 Democratic VP odds and sat at +400 alongside Ossoff, and he is now 125 points longer and third.

The Price Depends On A Run Ossoff Has Ruled Out

The Associated Press called the Georgia Senate race for Ossoff on Tuesday night over Republican Rep. Mike Collins, who conceded. The race was on the election odds board in May.

Ossoff said at the Oct. 13 Atlanta Press Club debate that he would see out the term and that he has “zero interest” in running for president, Fox News reported. The term he just won would run through early January 2033, so a 2028 campaign would start less than two years into it. A bet on Ossoff for the nomination or the presidency pays only if he reverses that position.

Vance Is Far Shorter For The Nomination Than The White House

Vance, at +110 to be the Republican nominee, is the shortest price in either nomination market. Rubio is +350 and Tucker Carlson is third at +1600. For the presidency itself, Vance lengthens to +550, level with Ocasio-Cortez and behind Ossoff at +425. His price grows by 440 points between the two markets, while Ossoff’s moves 50.

The party market explains the gap, with Democrats at -175 and Republicans at +155. Ossoff is one of 53 names priced on the 2028 presidential election odds board, and only five of them are shorter than +1000.
